Good news that Snowylady is able to join a regular aqua-aerobics class, and able to attend all sessions since it started 4 weeks ago.
The last time she was able to do that was during her first pregnancy with Snowylass, and to be supportive of her, especially during the later stage of pregnancy, I spent the time swimming in the same pool. Occassionally, I watched the group from the sideline, and tried to follow ...
I've done aerobics before, I've managed to job regularly and go to the gym. But if invited, I'll say "No, thank you." to aqua aerobics ... it's no exercise, it's bloody murder.
Anyway, her Wednesday evening classes now gave the rest of the family a reason not to go to grandma's for dinner - we'd have our own dinner, I'd quickly shower and change the kids and we'd fetch tired mummy from the pool and bring her home for dinner. If we go to grandma's, the kids will never be ready on time.
It also means it's up to me to get dinner ready - cooking is out of the question, so it's takeaways, but what kind?
It was by coincidence that I got pizza the first time - and saw how the kids loved it. Coincidentally too, there's a couple of interesting places to get pizza nearby, Oishi and Casa Verde, both having promotions for takeaways.
Looks like Wednesday will be pizza nights for the kids - who'd imagine a 5 year old girl and a 3 year old boy can finish off a 10'-11' pizza all by themselves. Fine by me, it just means I'll settle my dinner with a double-cheeseburger from MacD's instead, which I hope is less fattening than having pizza.
Of course, it's necessary for me to ensure the kids have a well-balanced meal. Snowylass is okay, she'd follow instructions. Snowylad is more difficult, I had to resort to making him eat slices of apples after he finished a slice a pizza and before he gets the next pizza slice.
You seem to be a very 'gentil' daddy and husband...
ReplyDeleteHow will you manage the dinner when you and the kids will have tasted all the pizzas in Singapore ? :p
Well, before pizza, I cooked pasta using "San Remo", but it seemed a little unhealthy (I prefer cream sauce).
ReplyDeleteI don't really like tomato sauce, but they seemed a healthier alternative, so I guess I have to learn something new and just do it ... :P
I always prefer fresh mushrooms, but the problem with using them is I can't quite tell when they're cooked, and I don't have a lot of time to do the cooking after bringing the 2 kids home.
Eventually, I might have to get a slow cooker with the bells and whistles ...
Would you be referring to a French meaning of the word or the wine ... :D
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of wines, I'm more of a "rose" wine lover, not white ... and not red ...
And yeah, a wine seller did a double take when I inquired about red zinfandel ... I was with Snowylady and he thought that guys who like that wine are guys who prefer guys ...
Hey order delivery from Canadian - oh dear, I think I forgot the spelling.. anyway, it's buy-one-get-one-free!! And taste just as good as the pizzas from Pizza Hut.
ReplyDeleteCanadian Pizza's always good. :]
ReplyDeleteHaha, no I didn't think about wine. I was just thinking about your kindness and courtesy.
ReplyDeleteAbout wines, the wines from the Loire Valley are quite famous and numerous, and I love some fresh 'Rosé de Loire' along with a barbecue party near the river. It is said that the Rosé is for women only... But I believe that this is because women always like Rosé ! ;-)
I've never tasted american wines like the one you mentioned (I had to google it to know its origin), wines from abroad are too expansive except maybe wines from Italy, Spain and Argentina...
Try living in Singapore where all wines are expensive.. relatively to France!
ReplyDeleteWorks for me since I drink alcohol only very occasionally. ^-^
In France, it is quite common to drink wine during the meals and it is even said that it is healthy to drink at least one glass of wine per day. My grand mother used to do it. Some wines can be sweet and easy to drink with cookies :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, when you are invited for dinner, it is very common to bring some wine...
If wines are too expansive, which alcohol is drunk for the dinner in Singapore ?
My father likes light beer, popular brands are Tiger and Calsberg.
ReplyDeleteBut ET and my brother likes wine.. a little of wine is good for health actually.
We do miss the cheaper wine prices in Europe, where we can order a carafe with a meal and not have it cost us the price of dinner itself.
ReplyDeleteOf course, we learn to take the assurance from the staff with a pinch of salt that the wine is not too strong ... :P
None, traditionally most Singaporeans do not take alcohol with meals. ;-) Drinking a large bowl of soup *after* and between mouthfuls of food may be more common among the Chinese!
ReplyDeleteI don't really take beer either.
I am quite happy to live in a teetotaler society. I am quite happy to live in a meatless society as well. :-P
But that's just me... boring!!!! ^_^
Oh no, Liu, don't listen to him. We drink maotai with meals. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI remember in China, some chinese who were swallowing their bowl of soup while making a lot of noise with their mouth and they had the spoon almost sticked to their mouth.... Does it mean something or is it just not very polite to make such a noise ? In France, such behavior while eating means you don't know the good manners :-)
ReplyDeleteNot boring... just a little bit different ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jules :-) How strong is maotai ? Is it for women too ? Do you drink it ?
ReplyDeleteSnowy, I don't understand this. A pinch of salt you said ? What for ?
ReplyDeleteA pinch of salt is an english expression. It means not to take what is being said as the whole truth.
ReplyDeleteYes, an Italian waiter in Roma assured us that no, the wine is not strong and a carafe would not make us tipsy ...
ReplyDeletePerhaps his assurance works for Europeans only ...
heard in:
ReplyDeleteFrance "ze cheese is good, not too strong."
Thailand: "This not really spicy, just a little."
Dentist's chair "Don't worry, just a tiny pinprick."
Singapore "Wah, I work so damn hard leh, boss give me so much work, always more than others. So stressful. I have no life!"
