A moment's sleepiness, a hole in the pocket, and lessons hopefully learned

I learned (hopefully, and never to repeat) that

1. Taking a shower after a tiring time is no protection against sleepiness when driving to work at noon.  The tiredness come from taking care of the kids in the morning this week during their term-break, and general fatique from having 2 children in general.

2. A moment of dozing off can cause an accident.  Just because I've been driving the same route for donkey years don't mean my body can drive in autocruise mode without the mind/brain being alert.

3. Despite all the thorns in life, I am still thankful to be alive, to get relatively minor damage in the form of scraping the car to the metal barrier without injuring any person or getting into an accident with other vehicles.

4. Replacement car from insurance plan have terrible smell.  It is not the smell like other cars of my friends, or even a taxi.  Just can't explain how it could have gotten it.  I had a couple of replacement cars years back when my car was knocked from behind by a taxi, and then less than 3 months later, a motorbike.  All had the same funny smell.

5. Subaru Imprezza - I'm not impressed.

6. This is about a lesson learned from previous accidents: whatever happened - always call Snowylady the soonest to tell her in person what happened.

  1. Hey, glad you are safe. Actually one's regular route is the most dangerous route. That's where I got knocked down by a car because I was complacent.

Anyway I will never make a good driver, my mind wanders too much. It is as Yoda said and I quote:

'All his life has he looked away... to the future, to the horizon. Never his mind on where he was. Hmm? What he was doing. Hmph.'

Come to think of it, I will never be a Jedi Knight either.

  2. Yeah, kids have boundless energy. It is all that positive Qi flow in their bodies. That's why I like to play a game with them every now and then. It is called 'Playing Dead'. Never managed to get them to play for longer than 5 minutes though. Sigh.

  3. umm... good thing there is no huge damage... so, take it as a wake-up call - never had your problem cos I don't drive or own a car... but I do understand about working with kids... ah... thank God, I am out of it!

  6. well, yes, marriage life with kids are really very tired, I once told a friend that she must be mentally prepare to sacrifice her current lifestyle, hobbies etc if she decided to have kids. Once chosen, you cannot regret.

hmm...whenever I look at all the bills for my dad's car, I shake my head. Fortunately he is the one footing all those bills !

  7. Last day of the kids' term break. Worn them out playing at the pool this morning.
Just finished some mopping at home while they're still in Z-land.

  8. Got a call from the workshop - it seems that the insurance company set them a budget that is now insufficient to replace 2 doors, though the rear door only had cosmetic damage in the first place, why the workshop initially told me they're replacing it was a mystery.
