How to copy a clip from DVD?

Got my hands on the DVD of Some Kind of Wonderful but found the record function in Real Player disabled when running it.

I really wanted to copy the clip of "Can't Help Falling In Love" at the closing scene.

Anyone got any ideas?

  1. hmm.. I have gotten myself a DVD burner programme - it works on some DVD format, and not on others... so I kind of work along with it... you might like to check the following threads for some free downloads... umm, some might just give you first 5 minutes but other could be for the whole show... I am not certain...

  2. When you say use a DVD burner, do you burn the DVD to a chosen format on another Disc, into a format like mpeg, and the manipulate it with a window-movie-maker?

  3. Yes, this would be the idea... I would download from DVD of different format into my Creative Zen. I used a program that allows direct translation into the desired format. In your case, you might like to download into a mpeg format and then use any movie maker program to edit as you wish.

  4. I don't know a lot about that stuff, but are you sure it is not copyright-protected ? (that would explain why the record function was disabled ??)

  5. DVD Shrink. Zaps everything, it does. Burns as well. I'll email you the .exe if you'd want.

  6. I'll try to get a copy of it myself. But from the description I looked up, it seems that it only offers half a solution.

Could you let me know the steps you take for using DVD shrink to make copies of your favourite segments from a DVD?

  7. No shortcut I'm afraid. You'll have to 'cut' those portions you want. Easier demonstrated than explained, but I'll ask my colleague how it's done.
